Nathan Shorter was born in Orlando Florida the 10th child in a family of 12 children to Harvey and Rosa Shorter. Piano was the family instrument and everyone plays piano to some extent. At age 15 Nathan developed an interest in the guitar after observing his brother Gregory practice for hours every day using the Mel Bay guitar instructional series.

Nathan joined the Oak Ridge High School Jazz Band in his senior year of high school and was featured on 2 of the 3 songs that won Oak Ridge High the 1976 Florida State High School Jazz Band 1st place honor. After attending Florida Jr. College at Jacksonville Nathan toured the country with numerous bands for several years before moving to Los Angeles California. Nathan worked with numerous recording artist including Lou Rawls and other artists on the Solar Records label. Nathan has written jingles for the Oakland California chamber of commerce and has recently had songs placed on CD’s by Pastor Reggie Sconiers as well as provided music for NBC Video Editor Howard Tate. Nathan has also recorded his own CD’s on the More Than Able Music label. The 1st entitled, “I’ve Waited All My Life” followed by “Redemption”.

Nathan also plays bass, piano and harmonica and is an aspiring backup singer. Nathan travels periodically to Nashville to make television appearances on the Dewitt Johnson Holiday Extravaganza.
